2008 Bridgefest Parade

Posted by Tricia June 14, 2008

There is one event that I look forward to every summer…the Bridgefest parade. I just love parades. I love watching the bands and seeing the floats. I also love seeing my son so excited about the candy. Sometimes I feel like a kid all over again because I get so excited!

This year, the parade started in Houghton and headed towards Hancock. It is a very long parade for the participants, taking over a half an hour to get from Houghton, cross the bridge and make it to where we were sitting in Hancock near the bridge (our favorite spot to watch it).

The excitement starts when we see the leading police cars. As my son says, “I see it! I see it!!”

(Just a note, put your mouse over the pictures to see a description – it takes a second for it to appear and some pictures have a special note.)

No parade would be complete without some fire trucks…

…and the bands!

The parade seemed a little shorter this year, but there were still many participants. Here are some more of them:

Elroy - The Michigan Elks Drug Awareness Mascot
Keweenaw Brewing Company Beer Gals
A Little Girl in Pigtails in a Boat - So Cute I Forgot to Note What They Were In the Parade For!
Jugglers from Jason and Bob Juggling Services

We also had some unusual sites for the Keweenaw:

While the parade seemed shorter this year, it was still fun to see. Tonight at dusk the Portage will be lit up by the Bridgefest fireworks. There is a chance of rain so I hope the rain stays away like it did for the parade. We’ll take the camera and see how well we can photograph them ;-)
