Oh how wrong both of you are, its by the Lily Pond, public access with the boat launch. I chased or wait, it was more like parked and waited for the John B Aird to come through after unloading salt in Hancock one really windy and cool day 10/2006, thought I was going to run out of light by the time he got there. Then I drove up to the old Coast Gaurd station and took a few photos as he headed off into the lake.

Coming to you from Mathfest in lovely Madison, WI -- I'm going to guess it's the south portage entry. Not sure though. It's definitely not Chutes and Ladders, based on the wood on the railings.

Since a freighter went by, it's definitelyt the Portage.

Is it at the far western edge of the park in Houghton along the Portage (the one with "Chutes & Ladders")?
