Thimbleberry Time!

I could have sworn that thimbleberry season was in late July. But we went hiking this weekend and found ourselves in thimbleberry heaven.
We didn’t pick enough to make jam, but we had enough to fill our bellies. They are always a welcome treat!
This year I have been paying close attention to thimbleberry patches during our travels. I think I will give it a shot and try to make some jam next year.

Awesome! It’s definitely still thimbleberry time. On our camping trip this last weekend, just along a mile-long stretch of road (out at the point) we managed to collect 1/2 gallon of thimbleberries, enough for about seven 1/2 pint jars of jam. Plus, the jam is extremely easy to make.
