Now that it’s June, I wonder if I should be posting pics that remind us of the long winter we just left behind. These pics remind me too much of childhood innocence to not share.

Our son loves the sand. It doesn’t matter if it is freezing outside – if the snow has melted enough to expose the sand – he wants to play in it.

Case in point – here’s a sand castle he made mid-April at Great Sand Bay. There should be continuous water in the background, but you can see a large section of ice still hanging on.

The nice thing about being out on the beach so early in the season is that it looks untouched. Like a blanket of white snow begs for a snow angel…the crisp sand begged for a sand angel.

I admit, mom made a sand angel too. But I am out of practice and it didn’t look as nice as our son’s sand angel :)

Whenever I see a fire truck, I am reminded of the men and women of the area who volunteer their time to help others in need. As far as I know, they do not receive any pay, yet they risk their life every time they fight a fire. They also must leave work or their family at the drop of a hat when a call comes in. It’s a tough volunteer role, to be sure. I am very thankful for our local firefighters.
